My research interests are in the broad of environmental and occupational safety and health. This seminal work, along with my previous publications, some ongoing studies, and Bachelor's background field including: Environmental science, environmental engineering, and occupational safety. Among my research interests, the field of environmental chemistry including: (1) chlorine-based disinfectants (free chlorine and chloramines) photolysis for pharmaceutical elimination and subsequently disinfection byproducts formation, (2) photochemical reactions of MnO2 to emerging contaminants, and (3) comprehensively monitoring emerging contaminants in sewage systems. These studies demonstrate the importance of photochemical reaction to reduce emerging contaminants in surface water and swimming pools, and the integrated analysis of emerging contaminant transformation byproducts in aquatic environmental systems. Moreover, I have investigated a wide range of contaminants, including pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), illicit drugs, and disinfection byproducts (DBPs), for their occurrence, fate, and mitigation in natural aquatic systems and engineered treatment processes.
